Belle's owners wanted every cabin and saloon to work as simply as a smart home. One Savant system runs 6 TVs and 13 audio zones across the vessel, from a remote in each cabin or the app on any iPad.
BSES supplied and programmed the full Savant system, working alongside the vessel's marine electrician. Every room is named in the interface, so guests pick up the remote in the Fwd VIP Cabin and it already knows where they are.

A new home stepping down a steep Seaforth block, with terraces, gardens and a pool on every level. The lighting had to tie it all together from the street at night, and still be simple to use inside.
An onsite electrician wired and installed the light and power. BSES designed the system, installed the Dynalite gear in the comms room, and built, installed and programmed everything in the data rack. Façade wall lights, garden uplighting, LED stair treads, pool lighting and layered interior lighting all run on Dynalite with engraved keypads, and Savant ties lighting and the Ness DX alarm into one app across all three levels.

Homes running on Savant
Can Savant work with my existing lighting?
Yes. Savant integrates with C-Bus, Dynalite and Fibaro, so you can keep your lighting system and add Savant on top for scenes, the app and the remote.
Do I still need light switches?
Yes, and that's deliberate. Keypads stay on the wall so guests and family never need the app to turn on a light. Savant adds to them, it doesn't replace them.
What happens if the internet drops out?
Everything inside the house keeps working on the local network. Remote access from outside the home returns when the connection does.
Can you add Savant to an existing home?
Usually. Killara was an established home brought up to date with Savant, Dynalite and Elk M1. We'll assess what's already in the walls before quoting.
Who looks after it once it's installed?
We do. Savant systems we install are supported remotely and on site, and our care plans keep firmware, programming and the network maintained.

Many homes end up with a mix: wired where the walls are open, wireless everywhere else, all running in the same Savant app.
We don't rip out good gear.
Plenty of older systems are sound underneath. A failed power supply or a lost project file can make a perfectly good C-Bus or Dynalite network look dead. We test before we quote, keep what works, and only replace what needs replacing.

Getting started
Where do I start?
Book a showroom walkthrough. You'll see every system working, tell us how you live, and we'll recommend what suits your home and budget. If you have plans, bring them.
When should we bring you into a new build?
Before the electrical plans are finalised, ideally at design development. Cabling decisions made before rough-in decide how well the system works for the life of the home.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Fully licensed for electrical and security work and fully insured. Electrical Licence 367490C. Security Master Licence 000109563.
What does the lifetime labour warranty cover?
If something we installed isn't right, we come back and fix it at no cost to you.
Which areas do you cover?
Northern Beaches, North Shore and Eastern Suburbs, from our Brookvale base. We've also delivered work on the water, including the superyacht Belle.
What services do you offer?

Cost & quoting
How much does a smart home cost?
Price is set by the number of rooms, the systems you want and the platform. A lighting-control-only home and a whole-home Savant system with cinema and security are very different scopes. After a design consult we give you a fixed, itemised quote so you can see the cost of each system.
Is your quote fixed?
Yes. Quotes are itemised per system and fixed for the scope shown. Anything added later is quoted as a variation before we do it.
Can we start small and add later?
Yes, if it's planned for. We cable for the full system during the build and fit off what you want now. Adding rooms or systems later is then a fit-off job, not a rewire.
Do you charge for the showroom visit?
No. Showroom walkthroughs are free and by appointment.

Which smart home system should I choose?
Savant suits whole-home control with AV, security and climate in one app. C-Bus, SpaceLogic and Dynalite suit lighting-led projects. Fibaro suits wireless upgrades. We'll recommend one after seeing your plans.
Can I control everything from my phone?
Yes. Lighting, climate, cameras, alarm, intercom and music from one app, plus the Savant remote and wall touch panels.
Do I still need light switches?
Yes. Keypads stay on the wall so guests and family never need the app to turn on a light. The app and remote add to them.
What happens if the internet goes down?
Everything inside the house keeps working on the local network. Remote access from outside the home returns when the connection does.
Does it work with Alexa, Google or Siri?
Yes. Voice control is available across Savant and the lighting platforms we install.
Can you control my air conditioning?
Yes. CoolAutomation connects ducted and split systems so every zone can be set, scheduled and built into scenes.

Yes. We plan every fitting, circuit and scene from your floor plan before construction, inside and out, including façade, garden, stair and pool lighting.
What's the difference between C-Bus, Dynalite and Fibaro?
C-Bus and Dynalite are wired lighting control systems for new builds and major renovations. Fibaro is wireless, so it suits homes where you don't want to open the walls.
Can you make the outside of the house light up automatically?
Yes. Façade, garden and pool lighting can come on at sunset and step down through the night on their own.

Which alarm systems do you install?
Ness, Elk, Inner Range, Bosch, Ajax and Gallagher. We hold Electrical Licence 367490C and Security Master Licence 000109563.
Which cameras do you install?
Dahua and Hikvision professional-grade cameras, viewable on your phone and Savant panels.
Can I answer the intercom from my phone?
Yes. Aiphone, Hikvision and Dahua IP intercoms forward calls to your phone so you can see, talk to and let in visitors from anywhere.
Can the alarm work with the lights?
Yes. When it's integrated, the alarm can turn on external lights, and arming can be part of a Goodnight or Away scene.

Can you upgrade an older home without rewiring?
Often, yes. Wireless options like Fibaro and Ajax go behind existing switch plates and on existing walls. See our Upgrades page for wired and wireless options.
My lights stopped working after a power outage. What now?
Call us on 0485 019 800. It's often a power supply or network fault we can diagnose over the phone before attending.
Do you offer ongoing maintenance?
Yes. Care Plans start at $89 + GST a month and include remote monitoring, updates, outage checks, an on-site health check and discounts on works. Every Beachside project includes 3 months of care free.
Do I get the programming files?
Yes. Every system we install or take over is documented and the files are handed to you.

Your safety comes first. The Beachside Assistant will never guide you through anything involving your switchboard or wiring. That's always a job for a licensed electrician.

What each inclusion means
Remote monitoring & updates
We monitor your systems remotely so faults are picked up early, often before you notice. Software and firmware updates are included, excluding paid upgrade licences.
Power outage and storm checks
After a power outage or storm we check remotely that your systems came back online, and follow up if something didn't.
Remote fault support
Phone, text and remote session support for faults. Care: Mon to Fri 7am to 4pm. Care Plus: Mon to Sat 7am to 4pm. Care Concierge: front of the queue, Mon to Sat 7am to 4pm. Subject to fair use. No after hours support.
On-site health checks
A scheduled visit to test devices, check the network and confirm everything is updated and working. Care: 1 a year, up to 2 hours. Care Plus: 2 a year, up to 2 hours each. Care Concierge: 2 extended visits a year, up to 3 hours each.
Battery changes and walkthroughs
At each visit we change batteries in remotes, sensors, keypads, locks and alarm devices (labour included, batteries supplied at cost), and walk family members or house sitters through the system.
Programming refresh
Changes to scenes, schedules, lighting and users as your household changes. Care Plus: up to 1 hour a year. Care Concierge: up to 2 hours a year. Anything beyond that is quoted separately.
Service call fees and fault visits
Care: 10% off service call fees. Care Plus: no service call fee if we can't fix it remotely. Care Concierge: 1 free fault visit a year with no call-out fee and the first 2 hours of labour included.
Discounts on works
Care 5%, Care Plus 7%, Care Concierge 10% off standard labour and materials. Excludes specialised equipment, third-party products and subcontractors.
Loan equipment (Care Concierge)
If a device fails, we install loan equipment to keep you running while it's repaired or replaced. Loan equipment remains Beachside property and must be returned in good condition.
Annual report
Care Plus: a yearly system health report. Care Concierge: adds an upgrade roadmap with recommendations for your home.
PowerSafe add-on
One annual electrical safety visit on the same day as your health check: smoke alarm testing and battery changes, switchboard clean out and inspection, and RCBO testing with trip times recorded in milliseconds for every device, supplied as a written test record. $55 + GST a month on any plan.
